The pizza that many people today know and love was probably first made about 500 years ago. Around this time, the tomato was brought to Europe from the Americas. Everyone knows that pizza is an Italian food, but it has become one of America’s favorite foods since Italians took the recipe to America over 100 years ago. These five fun facts show how popular pizza has become in America.

1.      Almost 95% of all Americans eat pizza regularly.

2.      The top five days for pizza sales in America are Super Bowl Sunday, New Year’s Eve, Halloween, The night before Thanksgiving, and New Year’s Day.

3.      There are over 60,000 pizza stores in America.

4.      October is national pizza month in America.

5.      There are about 3 billion pizzas sold every year in America.
